What better way to launch the Beirut Cultural Festivals than by paying tribute to Beirut itself?
The first night of the festival will be a very exclusive night with only 1000 seats, 1000 people who will have the chance to live an experience that tells the story of Beirut like it's never been told before.
Surrounded by an orchestra of more than 60 musicians who will be performing musical pieces arranged by Guy Manoukian and including several other artists and will combine music, songs, art, theater, cinema, lights and technology all coming together to deliver the experience of a lifetime.

Who is more fit to tell the story of Beirut than those who lived it and witnessed it all... the buildings themselves.

ليلة افتتاح مهرجانات بيروت الثقافية في 17 ايار، ستكون على قدر كبير من التميّز والرقّي. فداخل قبة دائرية عملاقة بمساحة اربعة الاف متر مربع تتسع لنحو 1800 شخص، مستقدمة خصيصا من الخارج، يتوسطها مجسّم لساعة العبد التي تزيّن ساحة النجمة في وسط بيروت، يقام عرض مذهل، يسترجع ماضي العاصمة، بواسطة تقنية الأبعاد الثلاثة 3D Mapping ، على وقع مقطوعات موسيقية من وحي المدينة وتاريخها، بتوزيع غي مانوكيان، يقدّمها أكثر من 60 عازفاً من الأوركسترا الفيلهارمونية اللبنانية. ويعبّر هذا الحدث بضخامته ومستواه الفني المميز عن عراقة بيروت وعمق تاريخها وأهميتها الحضارية. ويعاد العرض نفسه كذلك في ليلتي الثامن عشر والتاسع عشر من ايار. وتتراوح أسعار البطاقات لليومين الثاني والثالث من العرض ما بين 100 ألف ليرة و300 ألف ليرة، في حين يخصص اليوم الأول للدعوات.
Guy Manoukian is a multi-talented artist... a talent fostered by his American and Armenian teachers who were his inspiration and mentors since he was four years old. At the tender age of seven, Guy won a Yamaha Pianica, and today, he is the first artist from the Middle East to get endorsed by Yamaha. Guy joined a music school where he participated in concerts. Though his original dream was to become a professional basketball player, Guy was dedicated to his music, and at 16, he had his first solo concert that 1000 people attended. Guy collaborated with international artists like Wyclef Jean, 50 Cent, French rapper Diams, Raul Di Blasio and Mario Reyes from the Gypsy Kings.
Guy received many awards but the ones he cherishes the most are the Armenian Music Award that he received in Los Angeles for Best Dance Album, and the Best Arabic Tune of the Year Award for Harem which he earned in Lebanon in 2002.In addition to the Best Dance Album at the Arabian Music Awards held in Dubai in 2003.
He performed in many cities from Sydney to Santiago and last summer he had his first performance at the International Beiteddine Festival.
You will be able to enjoy his music during Beirut Cultural Festivals, as he will be the music arranger of “Story Of Beirut” show that includes a 3D projection inside the biggest dome, with 60 musicians and a series of actors, singers and dancers narrating the story of Beirut from 17 to 19 May.
المبدع غي مانوكيان معروف بتعدد مواهبه التي نماها بمساعدة من أساتذته في أميركا و أرمينيا الرابعة من عمره. عندما بلغ السادسة، فاز غي ببيانو ياماها، من ثم أصبح أول فنان في العالم العربي تتعامل معه شركة ياماها. انضم غي إلى مدرسة موسيقية حيث شارك معها بحفلات موسيقية عدة. رغم أن حلمه في ذلك الوقت كان أن يصبح لاعب كرة سلة محترفاً، الا أنه ثابر في مجال الموسيقى وتمكن من إقامة حفلة موسيقية حضرها ١٠٠٠ شخص. تعامل غي مع أسماء عالمية بارزة في مجال الموسيقى كراوول دي بلازيو وماريو ريس.
منح غي عدداً من الجوائز على مر السنين و كان أعزها على قلبه، جائزة الموسيقى الأرمنية كأفضل ألبوم راقص والتي حصل عليها في لوس أنجلس. وجائزة أفضل ألبوم راقص من جوائز الموسيقى العربية سنة ٢٠٠٣ في دبي.
كانت لمانوكيان إطلالات موسيقية في العديد من المدن، من سيدني الى سانتياغو، أما أول ظهور له في مهرجانات بيت الدين العالمية فكان العام الماضي.
